17th November 2008
On Monday I helped to move the staging from our show to Mrs Eastwoods for storage till next year. From Tuesday onwards I spent dressing and cutting for the Northern Group show at Markham Grange Brodsworth. I finished up taking 36 flowers. It was an absolutely cracking show. I did very well winning the single vase sections for 3a and 5b respectively with Shirley Sunburst and Roy Coopland.I was particularly pleased with my entry in the what I call the growers class. It calls for 1 large/ medium and any 3 vases of 3 from 5 of sections 3 4/5 6 7 and 9. I finished third behind Harry Lawson but my Luxford was very poor but it was the only one that I had. My entry in the two vase class of 5 blooms from 4/5 and 5 blooms of 7 was nowhere as was my entry in the Gift class.
The Society came third in the League behind Chester but Johns Roy Coopland was judged the best 4/5.
On the photos section you will find the best vases plus my exhibits.
I still have over 100 flowers in the greenhouse so I will be flooding our Bar top show on Wednesday at the Conservative Club in Ripponden. Everybody welcome.
Bearing in mind that most shows next year will be 6 days later I have already revised my growing plans.
