As you can see from one of the pictures my lad and I put up another greenhouse on the standing ground. This stays there until the end of May when its all change again.
We had the first frost of the year on Sunday night. That is very early even for me.
All bar Twyford Gold are snugly tucked up in the greenhouses so we are in the lap of the Gods now.
When I am putting them in the greenhouse each pot gets washed with Jeyes fluid and and get a teaspoon of potash. It is all washed in with 4 teaspoons of Glucose to a 7 litre watering can.One can will do 5/6 plants
The potash is supposed to stiffen the plant whilst the glucose gives the petals a shine.
The first of the Bar Tops took place last night at Denton with Len Whitehouse taking the best vase with Wingfield. They were very nice.
The shows continue tonight with Dukinfield.I am judging it.
The Sowerby Bridge Bar tops have had to be changed from the the original because the Turnpike Inn has closed. They are both at the Conservative club in Ripponden on Monday October 20th and Wednesday 19th November. For further details please give John Swift a ring 01422831996.
Another photo shows Bill Holden I took it yesterday. It is been released by Halls of Heddon.
