2nd August 2010

Just returned from a weeks holiday in Majorca. Keith Atkinson popped in on the Sunday to water whilst Roger Moore took over the duties from Monday onwards. Everything was looking well with just a bit of slug damage but the weather was conducive for the beggars.
All the plants have been top dressed with the medium that they are growing in. I follow Roger Brownbridges advice with regards to top dressing that is 5 weeks before the bud is taken.
All the plants are been given some feed. The early Wingfields and Liverpool Festival are getting a dry Chempak No 2. The Roy Cooplands are getting a Miracle Grow solution once a week whilst the remainder are getting a third strength feed of Chempak 20 20 20 at every watering.
I sprayed with Decis last night and will spray with Sythane on Wednesday. I am going to spray my Grace Holden with B9 this week as once they get going they move at a rate of knots
I made a mistake early on in the season by thinking that Pat Millar only wanted one stop( i haven't grown her for a number of years) so the buds have appeared so i am running her on.
Olwyn and Amber buds are also early but I am, leaving them to come as normal.
I put the first Wingfield in the greenhouse today so I am hoping it will be ready for the 1st week in September.
