22nd March 2010
Its been 3 weeks since I wrote the diary but not a lot has happened on the growing front. I have been to plenty of A G Ms of various sorts. I have supplied various people with cuttings and am vary hopeful that our Maiden section at our show in November will have some new names in it.
I put an advert in a local magazine to try and attract new growers, it is distributed to 12000 homes and the only interest that I got was from a 91 year old who in the end decided not to take up my offer of free cuttings.
All my cuttings have been potted up apart from Bryony Wade which I will be getting at the NCS A G M at Bournemouth this Saturday. I also had an afterthought and ordered some Clarksdale from Frankie Charlton.I am expecting them anytime.
I currently have 173 potted up but will finish with about 110.
Last Wednesday I sprayed with Amistar as part of my spraying programme for White Rust.
Tomorrow I am going to Keith Atkinsons with my materials for mixing my John Innes No2.It is a 221 mix of sterilised loam, peat and 4mm grit. To this is added the same fertiliser as I used for my John Innes no1 mix. Its easier taking it to Keith's as we use his cement mixer!!
As well as taking over the materials for the mix I will be taking mine and Trisha's clothes so that he can take them down to Bournemouth for the AGM this weekend. We will be flying down late Friday.
