Not a lot going on this week as i have been away over Easter. John did his usual excellent job looking after the plants.
I have mixed 2 bushels of the soil for the 5' pots. The sterilised loam, grit and peat is the same proportion as for the 31/2'. The food is double the John Innes base but the same Calcified Seaweed as I used for the 31/2'. As I wrote a couple of weeks ago I will need 5 bushels to complete the 5' pot stage so I might use Ivor Maces mix of 2 parts Loam 2 parts Peat and 1 part Grit/Perlite.

The photos in the Diary show a Luxford grown in a plastic pot as against a Liverpool Festival grown in clay.
