On Saturday I went to the lecture by Mike Higgins at Adwick le Street hosted by Doncaster. It was very well attended with upwards of 70 people in there. A few of the tips i picked up were as follows:
a)When you have mixed your soil put it through a riddle to further mix the food
b)If you grow Fairweather and family take it into the greenhouse earlier than you would normally. If you have shading it will hopefully elongate the necks and thereby ensuring that the petals do not sit on the leaves.
c)If you can protect them later on and ensure that they do not get too cold plant some Kay Woolman in the ground. They will get a better root run which should give you bigger flowers.
d)If you suffer from White Rust he suggested that you spray 3 times with Amistar at 10 day intervals starting at rooting stage then the same with Systhane and then again with Amistar. The Amistar mixture is 5ml to 5 litre
Back home I started to pot into 31/2, well only Liverpool Festival until I came to the conclusion that the roots were not quite long enough. So I will leave them for another day or two. That means that it's back to washing pots. Hopefully on Wednesday I will take the rest of the cuttings that I need and then we will be on our way
