30th January 2008
Another weeks gone by with very little happening.
On Monday I went up to the allotment for 11/2 hours. I manured and weeded where I am going to put my sweet peas this year and weeded between my Iris bulbs.
Today I took another 40 odd cuttings which means that I have got just over 50 left to take. The only ones that are struggling are Kay Woolman so I think that I will have to order some from Halls of Heddon just to be on the safe side.
The cuttings that I took for hybridising are growing away nicely so it wont be long before they are having their first stop.
This Saturday is the last of the Northern Group talks for the winter. It is been held at Adwick le Street near Doncaster. The speaker is Mike Higgins a National winner of the Incurve classes plus Grower of the Year for 2007. If you are interested give Barry Hogg a ring on 01302722501 for a ticket. It's on from 2 til 6 and the tickets are £4 which include a hot meal and drinks(non alcoholic)
