7th December 2009
Another week gone by. It will soon be the shortest day and then the nights start drawing out.
I have put the propagation box up with the soil heating cable on. I have already put 75% of the stools on the cable. I knock the stools out of the pot and then 4" cube it. Once I have done that I smack 2 stools together to get rid of the soil and then plant it. I plant in last years soil that I have riddled to which I have added a handful of John Innes Base along with an equal amount of B & Q Multipurpose. If I am looking for 10 [plants for next year i will put 2 to 3 stools in.
I went to the inner circle meeting of the Northern group on Saturday. A couple of interesting things came up
a) Sefton the red reflex has been classified as a "b" from an "a"
b) 37 varieties have been sent away for a clean up and will be available from the N.C.S. The form will be in this years Autumn bulletin which should arrive in the next few days
