12th November 2007

The photos for the North West Counties are already on the photos section. The show was of high quality. It beat last years number of blooms and there were more exhibitors than last year.
If you want a mid-week show with good prize money then North West Counties at Bury Town Hall is the place to be.
Just a reminder that Ian Moss is giving a talk on Mediums at Lowton Civic hall near Leigh on Saturday December 1st. The cost is £4 which includes refreshment and starts at 1.30 until 5.30. Ian doesn't do many talks so don't miss out.Tickets can be obtained from me or Barry Hogg by ringing 01422822699 or 01302722501 respectively.

This weekend just gone saw me at my local show, Sowerby bridge, prior to it I spent Wednesday and Thursday dressing my Olwyn family. All to no avail as John Swift managed to arrest the Presidents Trophy off me. He has won it too many times to count. All this year I have been calling him yesterday's man. He has had the last laugh but there is always next year. The show itself was well supported with only 2 classes in the Open and Intermediate sections failing to have 3 or more entries. The only dissapointment was that for the first time ever we had no entries in the Maiden Section. So to all you people who are reading this please try and get at least 1 other person to start to grow this beautiful flower. I still have a greenhouse full of flowers as I haven't cut any Woolmans Venture, Doreen Statham, Pelsall or White Fairweather yet.
The next show is at Mirfield on Wednesday night. I haven't been before but I think it a bit like a Bar top. This weekend it the Northern Group show at Markham Grange Nurseries at Brodsworth near Doncaster. The Society have an entry in the League class whilst I have entered the Bill Stubbs as well as various single vase classes. With a bit of luck I will also have a vase of the recently registered Bill Holden in the Seedling class.
Sunday will hopefully find me at Bingley for their one day show. If you have any blooms and live not too far away from Bingley please go along and exhibit to ensure that these Societies continue to exist. Ring me if you want further details.
