Thanks to Roger Moore for looking after my plants whilst I was away in Majorca.
I flew back Friday night and put a few bits and pieces into Sowerby Bridge Horticultural Show for Saturday morning. I then went along and judged at Audenshaw in the afternoon. I’ve uploaded photos from Audenshaw to my photo’s area on this website.
I’ve taken most of the buds apart from the singles and anemones. I’m reciprocating Rogers’ favour and looking after his plants for the next fortnight. John Swift and I are taking a Sowerby Bridge Society entry to the National at Stafford on Friday night, our first attempt at the Early Show!
Saturday sees me hopefully showing at Woodley, but definitely judging at Timperley. I shall be travelling to Stafford on Sunday to see how the Society has done! Wish us luck!
It’s starting to get hectic. As most growers, I grow too many plants and have to put up another greenhouse at the expense of my standing ground. I have to make sure the plants are ready for the greenhouse. As can be seen from the photo below, I am hoping to show some of these Wingfields at the North West Counties – which isn’t until the 18th of September (schedules from Keith Atkinson 01942 877043).

Really, the greenhouse should be empty and disinfected well before mid September. Oh the joys of growing and showing!
If you’re short of space, you can bag them (bags courtesy of Paul Barlow) and leave them out for a week or so.
Next week please visit my site for pictures (and hopefully good news) from the National, pictures from Timperley and a new buds and colour chart.
