08th October 2007

John Swift and I duly went to Denton. We took 3 Billy Bell from under the cage at the allotment. They were very nice flowers. Unfortunately we were not tested as there was only us in the class. However the judge Ken McDean did have them on the floor for the best vase. Len Whitehouse won with a nice vase of sprays. At the weekend I went to watch Scunthorpe Utd play Watford and called in on Sunday to see Mick Graves. Everything was immaculate and they looked superb. If only I could grow them like Mick.

It's Sowerby Bridges Early/ Late Bar Top show on Tuesday at the Turnpike on Oldham Rd Rishworth. The schedule calls for vases of 1 or 3 and during judging we will be having a couple of quizes and pie and peas. Judging will be done by Alan Smith with staging between 6.00 and 8.00 do come along.

I have now got 107 in the greenhouses and as you can see from the pictures all 3 have a dehumidifier in them as well as fans the big greenhouse also has 6 tubular heaters set at 50 in addition to 3 more fans. The smallest greenhouse which houses the Fairweather has 4 tubular heaters set at 60. The greenhouse that sits on the standing ground has no heat and accomadates most of the reflexes as well as the singles. In the photo section I have included pictures of Yellow Olwyn, Cherry Luxford and Doreen Statham all just showing colour and during the course of the next few weeks we will follow their progress.
